LeeAnn Smith is a Registered Dietitian, Nutritionist, and food and nutrition writer who offers one-on-one and family nutrition counseling.
LeeAnn is certified in child and adolescent obesity and weight management, and specializes in diabetes, kidney disease, geriatrics and general weight management, among others.
LeeAnn tailors nutrition consultations to meet the unique needs of each client by providing education, necessary tools, and guidance in lifestyle modification, empowering the client to set goals to transform their health.
LeeAnn utilizes the latest research and most effective tools and methods to achieve results. She facilitates ongoing communication with the client’s healthcare team and provides the referring physician with progress notes and recommendations.
Prior to starting her own practice, LeeAnn was a renal dietitian and nutrition consultant specializing in kidney disease at DaVita Inc. Her additional areas of expertise include weight management, diabetes, cardiovascular health, women's nutrition, gerontology nutrition, digestive disorders, vegetarianism, food allergies, and disease prevention.
LeeAnn received a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from James Madison University and a Masters in Public Health from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She completed a dietetic internship through the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare system. She is a member of the American Dietetic Association, the California Dietetic Association, the Dietetics Practice Based Research Network, the Renal Dietitians Dietetic Practice Group, and the Nutrition Entrepreneurs Practice Group.
LeeAnn is also an invited Analyst for the American Dietetic Association's Evidence Analysis Library, a synthesis of the best, most relevant nutritional research on important dietetic practice questions.
LeeAnn frequently consults for businesses such as Organic Bistro Whole Life Meals, Highland Home Healthcare, and H2 Wellness, in addition to hundreds of individual clients.
She has written and contributed to various publications including Today's Dietitian, the Renal Nutrition Forum, and the Journal of Renal Nutrition.
